"OK.  I know I should stretch, but what stretches and how best to do them?"

​Last week, I shared the importance of stretching your spine. Not just one area, but all areas. Attached is a simple but effective stretching sheet which demonstrates some key stretches for different areas of the spine. "How often should I stretch?"

I'm often asked questions about stretching. Not always which kind of stretching is best, but how often one should stretch. My answer is always the same: "Daily.

Now, to some that may seem extreme. But think about it for a moment. Your spine holds you up all day long fighting against the force of gravity. Over time this compresses your spine. And since gravity is working on your spine daily, so should you stretch to help overcome gravities compressive effects.  Don't just stretch the neck or lower back. It is important to give your entire spine a gentle but good stretch. My philosophy is, "Be good to your spine and it will be good to you!"  So stretch a little everyday. Your spine will thank you!
